Family Force is a new organisation that has been created to provide support to the children and immediate families of our serving personnel, reservists and veterans.
There is estimated to be up to 174,000 service children in the UK with 2,000 service families residing in Catterick Garrison alone. The North East is also home to 109,000 veterans and their immediate families.
Our aim is to provide support and advice to ensure that service and veteran children are given opportunities to achieve their potential. All service children can at times face unique practical and emotional challenges that have the potential to negatively affect their wellbeing and mental health.
An effective way to support service families is to bring them together regularly to share similar experiences and help nurture new, supportive friendships. We plan to do this by running projects designed to support both the children and parents in our Armed Forces Community.
